There's been a Baptist Christian community here in Petone since the dim mists of time - well 1903 to be exact. Prior to that a dedicated group walked into Vivian Street in Wellington each Sunday. It's not surprising they set up shop in Petone!
Their aim, as ours is now, was to bring God's love to their community. They had different ways of doing that - some seem a little quaint now - but they believed God was concerned about them in the here and now.
In 1953, at the 50th anniversary of the church, some dedicated soul charted the early history of our church. Read it here.
